NIGERIA AT THE CROSSROAD
NIGERIA AT THE CROSSROAD
•Fuel scarcity menace •Cash policy travails
• Election Dichotomy
By: J. Wakeel
There's no doubt that Nigeria is in mess, going through turbulent time. With the uncertainty of the country situation, what evidence do we need to proof it's not?
Not everyone is happy with the present state of the country. Some even believe Nigeria is at the corner stage of Failure already and it needs Miracle, while some believe it can never better and 1% of all believes the Positive changes. Obasanjo once said "How is Nigeria still existing".
Indeed, there are so many factors that visibly qualify the turbulent times. People can't perform their fundamental obligations. We need to understand that if we are all Nigerians, we should be highly concerned on the following travails:
Fuel Scarcity Menace:
Perplexity!!!!, why can't Nigeria provide what it produces. The provision of fuel to the people has being the most popular demand since decades. A piece recall from president Goodluck's administration for fuel subsidy removal 2012. Still on the menace as the present Administration of president Muhammad Buhari promised in his Political campaign promises 2015; to reduce the hiking fuel price Six month after induction, instead it keeps inflating . So far, the three government owned and private refineries in the country have not been working extensively to serve the Nation.
Cash Policy Travails:
This cash policy is a general contagion. To change the new 200, 500 and 1,000 naira notes in Banks, turned another scene of experience.
This has brought uneasiness, Nigerians experience more unbearable hardship, Government gave an order for the deadline of the old currency as a legal tender, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ordered Banks for legal changing of currency, Banks have no Notes available, ATM machines turns a market place and a room to store the old notes, Traders rejects old currency, buyers has no other as an exchange. One hears the pain in the voice of the people as they feel confused with the issue of cash policy that has consolidated with many cases.
Election Dichotomy:
The forthcoming election Feb. 25 2023 is still a deep concern to be fixed or shifted due to some public factors.
The Political presidential and gubernatorial candidates are campaigning for their own sits, promised to perform excellently and provide meaningful existence. Meanwhile, the recent Challenges are not yet to be put to an exit, they still fire themselves with several political propaganda traits. Still yet, people scare of insecurity from the electoral violences. We need to understand the kind of president Nigeria needs. Indeed "a leader becomes a myth by the task he sets for a system to flourish not to sabotage the system". This gives the different between a Leader and a Dealer.
In lieu of settling the travails, they go after matching another chapter, the reason for these disturbing facts is that some of our leaders are not humane enough to show that blood runs in their vein. The economic situation is a worse. Only a new beginning can save this country. No “Good” leader can rescue Nigeria. In true democracy, leaders are considered public servant as a government for the people, hence they fight for their self priority.
Authoritatively, these calls for reformation and restructure. We lag behind not because we have no resources but, we fail to provide what we produced as a useful tools for the Nation.
This piece may not give an answer to theses Challenges but finally the issue of Cash policy and Fuel scarcity that is highly affecting the masses, should be provided in abundance with immediate effect.
"
We lag behind not because
we have no resources but,
we fail to provide what
we produced as a
useful tool for
the Nation.
